What is Heka-ICRE
Heka ICRE is an Interdisciplinary Center for the Research of Esotericism. It is established as a way to answer to the need of an independent space of interchange of ideas, research and teaching of what pertains to Esotericism.
Esotericism is a term whose origin is in Greece. It means “secret knowledge”. When Socrates taught to his students, he would teach exoteric knowledge, that is what is in Plato´s books, and esoteric knowledge that was never written, although much of that knowledge, with the changes made by the schools are in Neoplatonism.
Esotericism includes Magic/k, Theurgy, Alchemy, Astrology and other divinatory methods.
Why Heka - ICRE?
Esotericism has survived in the Western World hidden from accusations of pagan practices, Satanism or diminished as ideas that are products of wishful thinking and stupidity. Those who practice Magic/k, Alchemy, Astrology or other divination tools have to deal either with fear or with skepticism.
The result of this persecution that has lasted for centuries is, firstly, a landscape of a wide number of associations, hidden groups, and isolated individuals who study these techniques without the possibility of checking their results with other people.
Secondly, the disciplines have separated from each other and at times have accused one another of being a lie or unsuccessful. I call this the Gaslighting Syndrome. Because the esoteric disciplines have been gaslighted until they are not part of any socially accepted realm of knowledge, every school fights to gain its own recognition by saying that true Magic, Astrology, Alchemy, and knowledge is theirs, but the one from the other organizations, disciplines, etc. is not ‘true’.
Thirdly, academic study has been forbidden until recent years, in which cases these disciplines have become part of religious studies. This has given great results in the studies of the historic development, but it has obscured the fact that esoteric disciplines do aim to get results. Still, there is no academic study about the effectivity of magic techniques, astrology, etc., and there have only been timid attempts to reproduce Alchemy results in a lab.
Fourthly, when someone wants to dedicate their life to the study and development of these disciplines, they will probably need an outside job because there is no way to make a living with many of these disciplines, due to the discredit they have fallen into.
These are the reasons there is a need for Heka-ICRE.
Mission
1. To create a space for research and the interchange of ideas for practitioners of esoteric disciplines, so that they can develop new tools and techniques beyond the boundaries of a single initiatory school or a unique current.
2. To create a space for accomplished scholars and initiates to teach their techniques to a wider public, and to earn an income for them.
3. To educate the public about the nature of Magic, Astrology, Alchemy, Theurgy and other esoteric disciplines, their applications, strengths and limits, thereby creating a positive image that dissolves the misunderstandings of the past.
Principles
1. Esoteric disciplines work, and they can be used to achieve results in the physical world and in the development of consciousness.
2. Every human being has the right to develop all of their skills. Those who are attracted to esoteric disciplines have the right to learn and practice them.
3. There are as many points of view as individuals. That means every person has a unique point of view and a different life experience that can impact their esoteric practice(s).
4. There is a reality that is created by the individuals who share it, via their perceptions and beliefs. A shared reality only can change shared perceptions. The more fixed the beliefs and perceptions, the more fixed reality is. The more fixed reality is, the more stalled it becomes.
5. Esoteric disciplines open doors of perception, and new ways of relating to our environment and ourselves that cannot be explored in the same way outside of these disciplines. They also have the ability to make reality more plastic, fluid, and vibrant.
Heka-ICRE has a monthly newsletter to talk about Esotericism.
